TECHLLECT: "Лунь" проект 903

MANUFACTURER: Soviet Navy
DESIGNER: V.Kirillovykh
DATE: 1987
SOURCE: igor113.livejournal.com/51213.html

Covering an area of 550 square meters, slipping between water and air, this, cold-war-like-initiated, ekranoplane is undoubtfully a modern day monument of technology. The Лунь, loaded with heavy armoury, hasn't been
used as extensively as planes or ships, but from the main idea/concept, as something that stands on the edge, filling a gap on army operations, to its finest detail is hugely intriguing. Strangely, the second one of these series(last image) was mainly built and used as a rescue boat..

We hope we could speak Russian to fully cover the russian article that thoroughly tells us its story. But except hope there is babelfish to help us! Try it. It (sometimes) works.

Also, try the videos 1 and 2
on YOUTUBE. Nice.
